Maps Credit Union seeks a visionary, data-driven marketing executive to lead our enterprise marketing, outreach, communications, and brand strategy. As the Senior Vice President of Marketing, you will have the opportunity to influence every corner of a rapidly growing organization while making a measurable impact on the financial well-being of members and the communities we serve.
The SVP of Marketing serves as the champion for data-driven decision making, brand relevance, and organizational alignment. You will guide marketing strategies across consumer and commercial lending, digital banking, wealth management, retail operations, and subsidiary businesses—ensuring cohesive execution and compelling value for the members we serve. You will also act as Maps' lead spokesperson, industry representative, and steward of our brand, strengthening our reputation and relevance in every market we reach.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the enterprise leader for marketing and outreach strategy, aligning divisional efforts (consumer lending, commercial lending, retail, wealth, digital, and subsidiaries) with organizational goals, performance targets, and the Business Plan and 10-Year Vision objectives of Growth, Relevance, Discipline, Efficiency, and Giveback. Champion the use of data in all strategic decisions.
- Through marketing, outreach, public relations, and industry relations, differentiate Maps Credit Union and its subsidiaries within all key markets. Ensure consistent, compliant, and compelling messaging across all channels that strengthens brand trust and market relevance.
- In collaboration with the Maps Data Strategy, champion the use of data, research, and analytics across the organization. Serve as a voice for members and customers by translating insights into effective messaging, outreach, and product positioning.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and automation that improve engagement, personalization, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure Maps and subsidiary product and service offerings remain competitive, member-focused, and value-driven, supporting long-term organizational strength and relevance. Enhance value perception through effective member journeys, product positioning, and experience design.
- As a key member of the Growth Strategies Team, lead all Marketing, Outreach, Public and Industry Relations, and Internal Communications related to Maps growth strategies, including regional branching strategies, new markets analysis, and merger & acquisition strategies.
- In partnership with the Maps Community Foundation Board of Directors and organizational leadership, support and extend community outreach strategies aligned with Maps' mission and giveback objectives.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization with the media and external stakeholders.
Governance & Decision Rights
- Serve as the enterprise steward for marketing, outreach, public relations, and internal communications governance across Maps Credit Union and its subsidiaries.
- Establish and enforce clear frameworks for brand standards, messaging, public communications, internal communications, marketing investments, and external partnerships.
- Ensure marketing and outreach activities comply with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and reputational risk standards inherent to financial services.
- Follow regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags and other compliance-related policies.
- Provide disciplined oversight and appropriate escalation for enterprise-level marketing decisions, ensuring transparency, documentation, and accountability.
- Partner closely with the President/CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Data Strategy, Compliance, Risk, and Legal to align strategic intent with execution and risk management.
Enterprise Alignment, Shared Priorities & Collaboration
- Ensure marketing strategy is fully aligned with organizational goals, performance targets, the Business Plan, and the 10-Year Vision across all divisions and subsidiaries.
- Collaborate with executive peers and senior leaders to integrate marketing, outreach, and communications into enterprise growth strategies, including regional expansion, new markets, and M&A activity.
- Align marketing efforts with product strategy, member experience, digital initiatives, CRM and data strategy to ensure cohesive execution and consistent value delivery.
- Act as a connector across consumer, commercial, retail, wealth, digital, and subsidiary teams to eliminate silos and reinforce shared priorities.
- Balance enterprise-wide needs with divisional objectives, ensuring consistency of brand, message, and execution while supporting local and business-line differentiation.
Decision Authority & Discipline
- Exercise decision authority over enterprise marketing strategy, brand governance, outreach priorities, and related resource allocation within Board-approved budgets and established governance structures.
- Apply disciplined, data-informed evaluation to marketing initiatives, technology investments, and vendor partnerships to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and expected outcomes.
- Establish performance metrics, dashboards, and review cadences to measure effectiveness, return on investment, and progress toward growth and relevance objectives.
- Reinforce accountability through regular performance review, course correction, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure decisions reflect long-term value creation, stewardship of member and organizational resources, and alignment with Maps' mission and risk appetite.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven executive leadership with the ability to influence across direct and indirect reporting relationships.
- Strong leadership skills, including managing relationships with colleagues and contracts where there is no direct supervisory relationship.
- Proven strategic, analytical, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, presentation/public speaking skills, and demonstrated analytical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience in branching, bank acquisition and/or credit union merger leadership.
- Deep understanding of brand management, member experience, and growth strategy in regulated financial services environments.
- Accurate typing/keyboarding skills; excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in working on a Macintosh system, including the use of Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Data Warehouse Snowflake. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word; Excel; and working knowledge of PC platform Color and file format knowledge for print and web, including HTML.
- Advanced knowledge of journalistic methods, techniques, and principles involved in researching, writing, and publishing news articles.
- Advanced knowledge of techniques of computer-aided design required to plan, layout and edit brochures, pamphlets, and other publications, as well as create lobby displays.
- Ability to remain flexible in order to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Possess a work ethic that includes neatness, punctuality, and accuracy.
- Exhibit a high professional integrity with demonstrated confidentiality.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A master's degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of marketing leadership experience, preferably in financial services.
- 5+ years of applied data analytics/strategy experience.
- 7+ years of people, program, and vendor management leadership experience.
- Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license.
- Must be bondable.
Starting exempt salary: $178,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience.
