Description
The Marketing Lead oversees marketing communications in order to maintain consistent, high-quality branding and raise awareness of our organization’s programs and projects. They oversee year-round management of the International Compost Awareness Week campaign. Lastly, they provide administrative support to several key functions of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing & Development Support: Assists in achieving key marketing and donor management goals for the organization.
Develops and executes a marketing plan to promote CREF’s programs, events, and fundraising activities through diverse communication channels
Creates and publishes written and visual marketing materials including press releases, flyers, newsletters, videos, and CREF’s annual report
Oversees layout/content of CREF’s website to support overall branding and promotional goals Maintains and organizes contact lists for email communications
Develops a branding and organizational style guide
International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW):
Works with the International Compost Alliance, ICAW Committee, and other volunteers to select a theme and oversee effective year-round national coordination of annual public awareness campaign, including leading monthly ICAW Committee meetings
Manages international poster and bookmark contests and oversees distribution of printed posters, stickers, and bookmarks throughout the U.S.
Conducts outreach to sponsors, manages sponsor relationships, and ensures proper sponsor acknowledgement across a range of platforms
Plans and implements a social media campaign promoting ICAW before, during, and after the celebration taking place the first week of May each year
Continuously updates the CREF website and other documents to support ICAW communications
Sponsorships/Donors: Supports relationships with donors and sponsors
Creates, tracks, and follows up on invoicing
Ensures proper acknowledgement of sponsors on program promotional materials and through written/email communications
Maintains donor database
General Administration:
Attends and/or schedules specialized committee meetings and recurring meetings including weekly staff syncs
Google Drive file management/organization
Organizes CREF logistics and attends the US Composting Council’s annual conference
Other projects as assigned
Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities
Minimum requirement: BA/BS or equivalent with 2 years experience in marketing, OR minimum 5 years experience in aforementioned work area
Experience with social media communications (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram)
Strong written, verbal, and phone communication skills to communicate across all internal and external levels of the organization
Ability to both work independently and function collaboratively in a team environment
Advanced executive function skills: time management, organization, follow-through, multi-tasking, interpersonal communication, and deadline orientation
Familiarity with the following:
Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and/or Microsoft Office programs
Canva or other graphic design program
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, e.g., Neon One
Constant Contact or other marketing communications platform
Wordpress or other website editing platform
AI use and applications
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Training and/or experience in nonprofit operations
Ability to think creatively with long-term and big picture needs considered
Willingness to take direction from emergent priorities with ability to pivot
Familiarity with composting as a sustainability practice
Proven track record working in a remote or hybrid work setting
Experience with video editing software
